VirginiaFIRST is the regional 501(c)(3) operation of FIRST, an international non-profit organization headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire. The mission of FIRST is to design accessible, innovative programs that build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills in young people, while motivating them to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering. VirginiaFIRST works to bring the exciting and challenging activities, events, and opportunities of FIRST to Virginia youth.  

FIRST's GOALS:

• - Encourage girls, minorities, and low-income students in under-served communities to take an interest in science, math, and technology.
  - Increase participation of mentors who share technical expertise and serve as positive role models.
  - Provide an opportunity to develop creative problem solving and technical skills.
